Residents of Ozoguor/Idumebo community in Ewatto, Ose Local Government Area of Edo State, have expressed concern over the abandonment of a borehole project initiated in January 2025, despite what they describe as substantial financial inflows to the council within the same period.

A SaharaReporters' review of the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements to the Ose Local Government Area between January and December 2025 shows a total allocation of approximately N5.87 billion.

Monthly inflows remained consistently high, ranging from N385.5 million in January to a peak of N583.555 million in October. Other allocations include February (N460.1 million), March (N457.9 million), April (N421.5 million), May (N439.9 million), June (N465.7 million), July (N495.2 million), August (N539.5 million), September (N568.4 million), November (N555 million), and December (N496.4 million).

Despite these figures, residents say access to potable water in Ewatto remains severely inadequate, with the abandoned Ozoguor/Idumebo borehole project now symbolising unmet infrastructure needs in the community.
