Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated in a speech delivered on Sunday, June 21, at the Jerusalem International Policy Summit, that Israel’s recent achievements against Iran have set the stage for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic's regime. He called upon the Iranian people to seize this opportunity for the ultimate ouster of the Iranian government.
In his address, Netanyahu asserted that Israel had successfully thwarted Iran's plot to "annihilate" the country. He added that if Iran had acquired nuclear weapons, it would have undoubtedly used them, emphasizing that this reality served as the primary motivation behind Israel's actions. According to the Prime Minister, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have eliminated an "existential threat" through military operations conducted against Iran over the past year. He specified that had Israel not carried out these operations, Iran would have already obtained and deployed an atomic bomb.
Netanyahu described these two military operations as the largest airstrikes in Israeli history, executed in cooperation with the United States. He stated that Iran's nuclear infrastructure was destroyed during these campaigns and 20 of Iran's senior nuclear scientists were eliminated 12 in Operation Rising Lion and eight others in Operation Roaring Lion. According to him, the elimination of these nuclear scientists makes the assembly of a nuclear weapon exceptionally difficult for Iran. Netanyahu further claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) suffered hundreds of billions of dollars in damages, a blow from which it may never recover.
