The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), managed by the Jalili brothers, cut off the audio of Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of parliament representing the hardline Paydari Front. This was an incident unimaginable before the start of the recent 40-day war. However, Nabavian’s decision to leak “Top Secret” documents directly quoting the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic in opposition to ongoing “negotiations” during a live television broadcast forced even the state broadcaster, traditionally loyal to the Paydari Front, to halt the live transmission of the program.

What Did Nabavian Say on Live Air?

During a televised interview on the evening of Saturday, June 20, Mahmoud Nabavian, an MP and member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, pointed to Mojtaba Khamenei’s stances regarding the recent negotiations between Iran and the United States. He claimed that the Supreme Leader had set 11 conditions for the continuation of talks, including receiving war reparations from the United States, preserving the right to enrich uranium, lifting sanctions, releasing Iran’s frozen assets, and exercising full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

He also stated that Mojtaba Khamenei had emphasized three times over the past April and May that there should be no negotiations regarding the nuclear dossier unless the opposing side formally recognized Iran’s right to enrichment. According to Nabavian, Khamenei had even opposed the idea of a joint management system for the Strait of Hormuz with Oman.
