Bafana Bafana’s World Cup campaign now comes down to one final match. And against South Korea next week, Hugo Broos’ side will face opponents capable of punishing mistakes quickly but also vulnerable in areas South Africa may feel encouraged to target.

After Mexico secured qualification for the knockout rounds, the race for second place in Group A remains wide open. That leaves Bafana needing their strongest tactical performance of the tournament to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

South Korea’s biggest threat naturally remains captain Son Heung-min.

The Los Angeles FC forward continues to be the emotional and tactical focal point of the side, particularly in transition moments where his movement into space becomes extremely dangerous. Whether operating centrally or drifting wide, Son’s ability to attack defensive gaps quickly could become a major concern for Bafana’s back line.
