The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has said it responded to 18 major emergency incidents across the state between June 14 and June 21 without recording any fatalities.

The agency disclosed this in a statement on Sunday by its spokesperson, Afolabi Olawale, noting that the incidents ranged from road traffic crashes and fire outbreaks to container truck accidents, tanker-related emergencies and infrastructure failures.

According to Olawale, emergency responders were deployed to incidents at Obanikoro, Maryland, Okota, Mushin, Marina, Otedola, Ikeja Underbridge and along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway during the period under review.

He stated that no deaths were recorded in 17 of the 18 incidents, while one victim trapped in a 40-foot container accident at Maryland Roundabout on June 18 was rescued alive and taken to the hospital for treatment.

LASEMA added that its Cobra, Eagle, Sharks and Lagos Response Team units worked in collaboration with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, the National Emergency Management Agency and community stakeholders to manage the emergencies.
