A shocking incident has unfolded in Anambra State following the discovery of the lifeless bodies of twin babies abandoned inside a drainage channel in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of their biological parents by the police.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the development on Sunday, revealing that operatives attached to the Okpoko Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly launched an investigation after receiving information about the grim discovery.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the lifeless infant twins were found in a drainage channel along Cooperative Street, Nwokedi, Okpoko, in the early hours of Sunday,June 21, 2026.
"The Police Operatives attached to Okpoko Divisional Police Headquarters, in the early hours of today 21st June 2026, received the information about the discovery of two lifeless infant twins abandoned in a drainage channel along Cooperative Street, Nwokedi, Okpoko. Following the report, operatives immediately swung into action, secured the scene, gathered vital evidence, and commenced investigations," the statement said.
The police disclosed that preliminary investigations quickly yielded results, leading to the identification and arrest of the biological parents of the deceased infants.
