The Anambra State Police Command has arrested an officer of the command for his alleged involvement in the death of a three-month-old baby in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the officer, whose identity was withheld due to the ongoing investigation, had been identified and taken into custody.

Ikenga said the command had commenced a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident to ascertain the facts and ensure justice is served.

According to him, the officer involved is currently undergoing interrogation and other administrative procedures in line with the Nigeria Police Force disciplinary processes.

The statement read, “The Anambra State Police Command confirms that the police officer allegedly connected with the unfortunate incident that resulted in the death of a three-month-old baby in Okija has been identified and taken into custody.
