A total of 5,364 candidates appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Coimbatore district on Sunday (June 21, 2026).According to official data, 7,092 candidates had registered for the re-exam, which was held at 15 centres across the district. Of them, 1,728 candidates were absent.Candidates said the Biology section was easier compared to Physics and Chemistry.R. Sridevi, a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Kallapalayam, said that she prepared for the examination on her own. She mentioned that a few questions were similar to those that appeared on the examination conducted on May 3 and found Biology easy.M. Hema Varshini, a private school student, said the question paper was similar to the May 3 examination in terms of the difficulty level.M. Thirumalar said he had joined a biotechnology course after reports of an alleged paper leak and the possibility of a re-test emerged, but still appeared for the NEET re-examination in an attempt to improve his score.In Tiruppur district, the NEET re-examination was held at seven centres.
