Ukraine's stronger position in the war with Russia has so far not eased the humanitarian crisis affecting millions of internally displaced Ukrainians, a crisis that has worsened because of the sharp reduction in spending on humanitarian aid.
Reuters reports that this was stated by International Rescue Committee (IRC) head David Miliband, Ukrinform reports.
It is noted that during a visit to Ukraine, Miliband stressed the importance of understanding the consequences of cuts in humanitarian aid from the United States. According to him, because of this, the IRC's projected budget in the country for 2027 has been cut in half - from $40 million last year to $20 million.
The Trump administration sharply reduced foreign aid and dismantled the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), prompting other countries to also cut spending on humanitarian support.
