Polish President Karol Nawrocki's decision to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle was made “at an unfavorable moment” and weakens Poland's international position.

According to Ukrinform, Polish Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański made this statement on Saturday during an address on TVN24.

“I believe this decision is a very serious mistake on the part of the president. This decision weakens Poland’s international standing. It will also have certain consequences and economic repercussions. This is a decision that Russia welcomes,” Domański noted.

According to him, Nawrocki’s decision was made just a few days before the Ukraine Recovery Conference was to be held in Gdańsk.

The minister emphasized that it will be very difficult to explain to Poland’s international partners around the world why the President of Ukraine was stripped of Poland’s highest state award at a time when Ukraine continues to fight against Russian aggression.
