Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana has envisaged a day when Yoga is practised in every household in India voluntarily by the citizens, rather than enforced as a government initiative. He took part in the mass Yoga program at Swatantra Park in Nellore city on Sunday (June 21, 2026) along with the general public, marking International Day of Yoga 2026.Speaking on the occasion, he hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing global repute to the ancient Indian science of Yoga. It is heartening to note that Yoga, which is part of Indian culture, is practiced across 190 countries today, he observed.The Minister called upon the morning walkers and Karate students who participated in the camp to make their yoga practice a daily affair rather than an annual event.He explained how the event had been planned to be conducted in a grand manner in every ward/village Secretariat, under the instructions of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.“As a part of urban development, we have not only modernized and maintained the urban parks, but have also roped in the services of Yoga trainers to train the public, with an aim to ensure the overall wellbeing of our citizens “, he concluded.
