U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that, contrary to Iran’s claims about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on June 20, 55 vessels passed through it that day.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported in a CENTCOM post on the social media platform X.
According to the command, on June 20, the volume of merchant ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz increased, and the U.S. military continues to conduct operations in the area to ensure freedom of navigation.
“Safe passage through the international waterway remained intact today as 55 merchant ships transited, moving large amounts of cargo and more than 17 million barrels of oil to global markets,” the post reads.
It is also noted that the U.S. military remains in the region, monitoring to ensure that all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to and implemented.
