Veteran actor, Ejike Asiegbu, has reflected on the evolution of Nollywood, praising the industry’s significant improvements in production quality, storytelling, and professionalism over the years.
Speaking in an interview with Sunday Scoop, Asiegbu said, “So much has happened for us who are icons. What is heartwarming is that many people still miss some of the things in our (earlier) movies, especially the storylines. There has been tremendous growth in the industry in terms of picture quality, production ethics and overall standards. So much has improved.”
He noted that one of the most remarkable developments in the industry is the increasing involvement of women in filmmaking, describing it as a positive step towards greater balance and creativity.
“One of the remarkable things that has happened is the fact that we now have a lot of women in the industry. It gives us gender balance and shows the important role women can play in filmmaking. They are veritable partners and strong, meticulous filmmakers as well,” he said.
Commenting on the younger generation of actors, Asiegbu praised their commitment to the craft and willingness to learn from industry veterans.
