The Chairman of the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr Thomas Barere, says the state’s South-East Senatorial District by-election is peaceful and orderly despite network challenges affecting the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.
Barere spoke with journalists on Saturday after casting his vote at Unit 4, Ward 18, in Khana and said that the low turn out of voters was caused by downpour across the state.
”The exercise was smooth and the people came out to vote because they understand the importance of their votes,” he said.
The chairman said election observers from various organisations had visited polling units across the area and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.
