Real Madrid say they have not had any contact with Michael Olise despite transfer rumours linking them to the Bayern Munich forward.The France international’s contract with the German champions, that he signed on his arrival from Crystal Palace in 2024, runs until 2029.In a statement released on Saturday, Madrid said they have “not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage” as they say they believe any interest in a player must be dealt with in club-to-club contact first.Olise is at the World Cup with France, starting and recording two assists against Senegal in their tournament opener.“In response to reports in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest from our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage,” the Madrid statement read.“Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration, and regrets the spread of speculation that does not correspond to reality.“Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected, among other aspects, in the shared conviction that any potential interest in a player belonging to the other club must be dealt with first between the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically governed the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.”Bayern declined to comment when approached by The Athletic. Madrid have expressed interest in a forward earlier this summer, releasing a statement to say in June that Atletico Madrid had rejected their €150million offer for forward Julian Alvarez.Atletico sources with knowledge of the bid, however, speaking anonymously as they were not authorised to do so, said at the time that the club did not feel like the offer was genuine.Madrid have already signed centre-back Ibrahima Konate following his exit from Liverpool, Marc Cucurella from Chelsea and Bernardo Silva on his departure from Manchester City this summer — with Jose Mourinho also returning as head coach.Olise has made 107 appearances for Bayern since joining in 2024, registering 42 goals and 54 assists. This season he scored 15 goals and provided 21 assists on the way to his second Bundesliga title in a row.
