The Kuruvai Special Package scheme would cover about 17,660 acres in Nagapattinam district.Beneficiaries would be provided ₹4,000 an acre for machine planting or direct sowing for a maximum of two acres, according to an official press release.Farmers taking up kuruvai cultivation were being provided with quality seeds at 50% subsidy through the agricultural extension centres. Besides, 50% subsidy or ₹60 an acre would be provided for liquid bio fertilizers. Similarly, 50% subsidy or ₹147.60 an acre will be provided for micro nutrients. Both these assistance would be given for a maximum of five acres.Farmers who wish to avail the benefits should register their names through the Uzhavan App with requisite documents.
