The late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 launched the controversial Operation Safe Corridor to facilitate the rehabilitation of ex-insurgents saying that the reintegration of deradicalised combatants would ensure sustainable peace and security in the country and help bring the decade-long insurgency to an end.
