Alphabet’s (GOOGL) (GOOG) (GOOG, GOOGL) Google is using Nvidia’s (NVDA) playbook to build chips that power artificial intelligence, Robbie Whelan and Katherine Blunt of Wall Street Journal report. Google has provided a $3.2B financial guarantee for an AI data center cluster known as Lake Mariner in western New York, whose developers will rent the computing power from microprocessors to Anthropic, people familiar with the matter told the Journal. This is the same strategy Nvidia has used to drive demand for its own AI chips, the paper adds.
