NEW YORK — Jazz Chisholm Jr. was back in the New York Yankees’ lineup Friday night after exiting Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox when he fouled a ball off of his groin area.Chisholm was asked how much pain he was in when he decided to take himself out of Thursday’s game in the middle of his at-bat.“A million,” Chisholm said. “If you ever got hit in the testicles, you’d know.”The second baseman spent his Thursday night icing his testicles, but the Yankees’ training staff did not express concern that it would be a long-term injury after the pain subsided.Chisholm added that he’s never worn a cup since he began playing baseball, even when they were required in the minor leagues. Before Thursday night’s incident, he never had a reason to wear one.“I’ve never gotten hit in the balls,” Chisholm said matter-of-factly. “I’m not gonna change. That was just an unlucky instance right there.”Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the biggest difference between this generation of MLB players from when he played is their lack of a close relationship with athletic supporters.“I did nothing without a cup, baseball-related,” Boone said. “I think the first time I heard Adrián Beltré didn’t wear a cup at third, it blew my mind. I know a lot of these guys don’t wear cups; I don’t wear a cup anymore.
