Kashim Shettima, Nigeria’s vice President on Friday paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State, following the recent gunmen attack that left three people dead and sparked concerns over security at the country’s premier policy institution.
Shettima, accompanied by Caleb Mutfwang and other senior government officials, inspected facilities at the institute and received briefings on its operations, ongoing strategic programmes and measures being taken to enhance security.
The Vice President was received by Ayo Omotayo, the Director-General of NIPSS alongside members of the institute’s management team, who outlined efforts to strengthen security and ensure the institution continues to function effectively despite the recent attack.
The visit came days after armed men attacked the institute’s vicinity, killing three persons and heightening fears over the safety of staff, participants and residents around the strategic centre.
