According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Adeniyi’s current tenure extension was due to expire on August 1, 2026.
President Bola Tinubu has approved a final six-month extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, allowing him to remain in office until February 2027.
The Presidency announced the decision on Friday, saying the extension is intended to enable Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms within the Customs Service, particularly the implementation of the National Single Window project, a key initiative aimed at streamlining trade processes and improving revenue collection.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Adeniyi’s current tenure extension was due to expire on August 1, 2026.
However, President Tinubu approved an additional six months to ensure continuity in the agency’s reform programme and facilitate a smooth leadership transition.
