The Race Course police have launched an investigation after a male foetus was found discarded at Pappanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore city on Friday.The police said the foetus that was found close to a bakery came to the attention of the public around 9.30 a.m. The Race Course police reached the spot after being alerted about the incident. The foetus was shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where doctors said that it could be aged five months.The police examined footage of surveillance cameras in the vicinity to trace the person who discarded the foetus. Race Course Inspector G. Jeyachandran said a case was registered under Section 94 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with the incident.
