Ride-hailing platform Bolt has donated N5 million to SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria after successfully converting thousands of everyday trips into support for vulnerable children and families through its “Rides That Care” campaign.

The initiative, which ran from May 27 to May 31 to mark Children’s Day celebrations, demonstrates how technology platforms are increasingly expanding their role beyond transportation to drive social impact and community development.

Under the campaign, Bolt pledged to contribute a portion of earnings from rides completed during the five-day period to support the work of SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria. The programme allowed customers to participate in charitable giving through their regular journeys without paying any extra fees or taking additional action.

The donation comes at a time when child welfare organisations across Nigeria continue to face growing pressure from economic challenges affecting vulnerable households. By linking everyday mobility services with charitable causes, Bolt said it sought to make giving more accessible and inclusive.
