District Collector Anand Mohan chaired a meeting here on Friday to review the preparations for conducting the NEET re-test on June 21 as the undergraduate medicine admission test held on May 3 was cancelled after question paper leak allegations from across the country.Chairing the meeting, Mr. Anand Mohan said 6,559 candidates would take the NEET in 11 examination centres on June 21. While the regular candidates would write the test between 2 p.m. and 5.15 p.m., candidates with disabilities would be allowed to write the test from 2 p.m. to 6.20 p.m. Candidates arriving at the examination centre after 1.30 p.m. would not be allowed to enter the examination centre.The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation had been instructed to operate sufficient number of buses from the nearest bus stands to the examination centres, where all necessary infrastructure for smooth conduct of the exam had been created. A medical team with an ambulance would be stationed in each examination centre.The candidates were advised to check the location of the examination centre on Saturday (June 20) itself so that they can reach the examination centre on Sunday on time without any difficulty. Those who wear attire according to their religious practise or culture should reach the examination centre well in advance for comprehensive frisking. Candidates should not wear shoes and full sleeves shirt. While candidates can wear ‘mangalyasutra’, other gold ornaments would not be allowed.Even though the students are allowed to carry transparent water bottles, electronic gadgets, smart watches and other banned articles will not be allowed inside the examination centre.“The candidates should go through carefully the NTA guidelines and follow them scrupulously,” Mr. Anand Mohan said.
