Liverpool have set their sights on Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincão, joining what is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most hotly contested transfer battles. The 26-year-old Portuguese international reportedly carries a release clause of €60 million, though reports suggest a deal could be struck for around €50 million.
Liverpool are actively rebuilding their attacking options following the departure of Mohamed Salah, and Trincão’s profile, a versatile winger with creative instincts and goal-scoring ability, fits the mold of what the club needs going forward.
What Trincão brings to the table
Trincão recorded 13 goals and 15 assists across 54 appearances for Sporting last season. Jorge Mendes is reportedly handling matters on Trincão’s end and has assured both Sporting and the player that a “massive” bid, one approaching the release clause, is coming soon. No formal offers have been submitted yet.
Trincão’s current market value sits at around €40 million according to Transfermarkt. His contract with Sporting runs until 2030, which gives the Portuguese club significant leverage.
