Bengaluru: IT/BT minister Priyank Kharge said urban mobility, cyber safety and sustainable urban development are among the top priorities for Bengaluru.The minister was speaking at a forum in Bengaluru, where he participated in a fireside chat and interactive session with industry leaders, technology innovators and sustainability experts, the IT/BT department said in a statement.The discussions centred on the future of integrated workspaces, urban infrastructure, sustainability, innovation and the evolving needs of rapidly growing cities.“Urban mobility, cyber safety and sustainable urban development are critical to Bengaluru’s continued growth and competitiveness,” the minister said. “These are areas where we are committed to driving meaningful, systemic and long-term solutions while ensuring Bengaluru remains one of the world’s leading destinations for technology, innovation and investment.”The comments come at a time when the city continues to grapple with urban mobility challenges. Highlighting mobility as one of Bengaluru’s most pressing urban issues, the minister said the city is now home to nearly 1.5 crore people and more than 1.25 crore vehicles, underscoring the need for integrated, technology-enabled and data-driven mobility solutions.The minister further noted the importance of improved coordination, planning and systemic interventions to enhance connectivity, and ease congestion.The discussion also explored the role of integrated workspaces in shaping future cities and economies, including the intersection of commercial real estate, workplace strategy, technology, sustainability and urban planning. Participants discussed how future-ready workplaces and business districts can contribute to innovation, productivity, talent attraction and economic growth.Kharge also highlighted the state's continued efforts to strengthen its innovation-led economy through support for startups, deeptech entrepreneurship, workforce skilling and global innovation partnerships.The discussions touched upon initiatives such as Elevate Next, sustainable digital infrastructure, evolving data centre ecosystems, circular economy opportunities and the role of emerging technologies in building future-ready cities and workplaces.
