London City Lionesses have announced the signing of former England goalkeeper Mary Earps.Earps joins on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain after her contract with the French club expired in the summer. The 33-year-old has signed a two-year deal with London City through to 2028.She made 54 appearances in all competitions at PSG, finishing second and third in the Premiere Ligue during her two seasons at the club.“I feel the club (LCL) aligns with what I stand for,” Earps said in a press release on Friday. “I can’t wait to get started and to get down to business.“The club’s values represent what I want to represent and they are passionate about what I want to achieve and change the game in a positive way. All the conversations have been really positive and every time I spoke with the club I wanted to hear more.

“I feel I still have so much left to give to the game, and that’s exactly why I chose London City.”The move marks a return to English football for Earps, having spent five years at Manchester United between 2019 and 2024. In that period she established herself as England’s first-choice goalkeeper and played an integral part in the country’s 2022 European Championship triumph and run to the 2023 World Cup final. She announced her retirement from international football in May 2025, however, just over a month before Euro 2025, after losing her place to Hannah Hampton. Earps later attracted criticism for her comments about Hampton and England head coach Sarina Wiegman in her autobiography.Earps was part of the United side that qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 2023 and won the FA Cup in 2024, winning the WSL golden glove during the 2022-23 campaign.London City Lionesses won promotion to the WSL in 2025 and are the English women’s top flight’s only team that are independent of a men’s club. They have invested significantly since U.S. businesswoman Michele Kang’s takeover in December 2023. They signed Sweden forward Kosovare Asllani while in the second tier, and added further international pedigree in the WSL with the signings of France midfielder Grace Geyoro and winger Delphine Cascarino, plus Spain defender Jana Fernandez.Earps is the first arrival of what looks set to be a busy summer for London City, who finished sixth in the WSL during their debut season.
