As we swap our brollies for fans and our trainers for sandals, it can be easy to fall back into the tried and tested outfit combinations of summers gone by. But accessories are a great way of mixing up your look without having to start all over again. You can instantly lift a simple cotton dress by adding a silk scarf neckerchief or add some pizazz to your linen trousers with a woven belt.I’ve scoured the high street to find the perfect pieces to re-imagine your style whether you’re heading to work or jetting off on holiday.Starting with footwear. Now that the puddles have dried up, I’m sliding straight back into a pair of open toe sandals. This chocolate brown strappy pair from George at Asda are only £10 and will look great with floaty dresses or wide leg jeans. If you love walking but don’t want to be in an enclosed shoe, FitFlop’s iQushion flip-flops have been given a fashionable makeover thanks to their collaboration with artist Keith Haring. And if you’re heading to a summer soiree, you can never go wrong with a pair of espadrille wedges. These from Penelope Chilvers are sturdy enough to handle any terrain. Handbags can make or break a summer outfit. The key is to have fun playing with colour - especially against neutral linen and cottons. A raffia tote bag never goes out of fashion and is a wardrobe staple. Antler recently launched their first handwoven limited edition bag that’s perfect for everyday wear. It’s also travel ready thanks to its adjustable strap and removable trolley sleeve so you can stack it on top of your suitcase by sliding it over the handle. If you’re heading to the beach, Marks & Spencer’s large mesh tote in a vibrant shade of blue is perfect for storing all your essentials. And if you’re looking for the perfect clutch, this raffia design from Anthropologie has that classic Missoni look for a fraction of the cost.If you want to go one step further, pop a marine-themed charm on your handbag. Dior’s £680 crawfish, while beautiful, may seem a little steep, so instead look to Mulberry’s colourful lobster charm (£145). A key part of your summer wardrobe has to be a trusty pair of sunglasses. I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many pairs. I always match my shades to my outfit but I’ve also learnt to have a cheap pair on hand when going anywhere near a swimming pool - accidents will happen. Jimmy Fairly are one of my favourite brands for fun but classic frames and their new oversized orange pair are already top of my wishlist. If you love a designer frame then head to TK Maxx. You can pick up a pair Gucci sunglasses that usually retail at £350 for £79.99.Jewellery plays a key role in seasonal dressing. If you love statement pieces you’ll be pleased to know that resin bangles are all the rage. Whether you decide to stick to muted tones or add a pop of colour, these sets from Next are will add a playful, fashionable touch to your holiday wardrobe. But the hero trend this year has to be fish jewellery. They’re popping up everywhere from drop earrings to bracelets and were spotted at Tory Burch’s AW26 catwalk. This necklace from By Alona features a chic enamel fish alongside a an elongated pearl drop on a 18k gold-plated chain. Wear it with a classic shirt to the office or strappy dress on a warm evening.I never travel anywhere without a handheld fan. They’re an essential when the temperature climbs above 25 degrees I never remember to charge my electric one so I always carry an old-school paper style one wherever I go. Aspinal’s handcrafted design in a beautiful Toile Du Jouy artwork is both elegant and practical and even comes with a handy leather case to safely store in your handbag.
