Proteas Women's No 3 Annerie Dercksen raises her bat for her maiden T20 World Cup half-century against Pakistan in Birmingham on Wednesday.

Proteas Women’s all-rounder Annerie Dercksen admits Sunday’s blockbuster T20 World Cup showdown with India is “do or die for us”.

The double T20 World Cup runners-up find themselves in this precarious position due to a heavy 65-run loss against Australia and a squeaky two-wicket win over Pakistan. Defeat against India would almost leave their final two Group One matches against Bangladesh and the Netherlands inconsequential — barring, of course, India or Australia suffering some shock defeats.

Therefore, for the Proteas to keep their fate in their own hands, they need to find their best form quickly in order to put away an Indian side eager to add the T20 World Cup crown to their ODI World Cup triumph of last year.

“Yeah, it's crucial,” Dercksen said of Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford. “We're well aware that every game now is sort of do or die for us.”
