The government launched the country's first National Post School Education and Training (PSET) Week, a five-day initiative aimed at promoting skills development, workforce readiness and stronger partnerships between education providers and industry.
Running from 22 to 26 June, the National PSET Week brings together government ministries, employers, industry representatives, education and training providers, development partners, regional organisations, students and communities to highlight the role of education and skills training in Samoa's development.
Opening the inaugural event, Minister of Education and Culture Aiono Dr Alec Ekeroma described the week as a significant milestone for Samoa's education and training sector.
"Post-school education and training is a national priority. The future of Samoa depends on the skills, knowledge and capabilities of our people," he said.
The week's theme, "Future-ready Samoa – Empowering Skills, Innovation and Industry Partnerships," underscores the importance of collaboration between government, training institutions, employers and communities to prepare Samoa's workforce for future opportunities and challenges.
