The United States Department of State has issued a fresh advisory warning American citizens against travelling to Russia, citing growing security concerns, including increasing drone attacks and explosions in several parts of the country.
In a travel advisory released on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the US government said Americans should avoid travel to Russia and remain vigilant due to ongoing security threats linked to the country's conflict with Ukraine.
According to the advisory, "US citizens are again advised and strenuously reminded not to travel to Russia."
The State Department noted that recent unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as drone, attacks and explosions have been recorded not only in areas close to Russia's border with Ukraine but also in major Russian cities.
