According to a report by the Students’ Association of K. N. Toosi University of Technology, four students have been sentenced to a combined total of seven semesters of academic suspension following a disciplinary committee review of the events of January 3 last year.
The report states that the case was built entirely on a security department report and statements from a few witnesses. However, the students contend that these statements were largely rewritten versions of the security report itself, lacking independence or separate evidentiary backing.
Furthermore, it is claimed that the names of certain students were included on the list of accused individuals even though, according to the Students’ Association, some of them were not present at the dormitory on the day in question and were away in their respective hometowns.
The report also alleges that the secretary of the disciplinary committee initiated the case without adequate verification, and that the preliminary committee subsequently based its final ruling on the same unverified documents. According to the Students’ Association, the hearing for this case was held without the required quorum of preliminary committee members, a point critics argue introduces procedural flaws into the handling of the case.
