Most Tottenham supporters had only heard the name. On matchday in Dallas, they finally got to watch Luka Vuskovic in the flesh, lining up for Croatia against England in the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage.

The 19-year-old centre-back, born on 24 February 2007, has been one of European football’s worst-kept secrets for the better part of a year. His World Cup appearance just made the secret a lot louder.

From Hamburg to the world stage

Vuskovic spent last season on loan at Hamburger SV, where he did considerably more than just get minutes. He earned Bundesliga Team of the Season recognition for the 2025/26 campaign, an honor that tends to do interesting things to a player’s market value.

He made his senior debut for Croatia in June 2025, and has since become a fixture in the squad.
