Three women who were employed at a food store on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew have been charged in connection with an alleged embezzlement scheme that resulted in the theft of more than $1.7 million from the establishment. They are 35-year-old Joedi Kay Harrison, 39-year-old Tanese Wade, and 46-year-old Nickeisha Evans.The police report that the alleged scheme took place between October 2025 and April 2026.They report that the owner of the food store discovered discrepancies in the business's cash records and launched an internal investigation.The probe allegedly revealed that Harrison, who was employed as a cashier supervisor, conspired with Wade and Evans to steal cash amounting to $1,766,765.78.Investigators further allegedly uncovered evidence suggesting that the three women allegedly processed refunds for customer purchases despite no refund requests being made by the customers.The police say the accused then removed the refunded cash from the registers for their own benefit.The matter was subsequently reported to the police, and following investigations, the three women were taken into custody and formally charged.Their court date is being finalised.Follow The Gleaner on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram @JamaicaGleaner and on Facebook @GleanerJamaica.
