Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries have triggered crisis-like conditions in 70 of Russia's 83 federal subjects, with physical gasoline shortages emerging in 13 regions.
This was stated by Mykhailo Honchar, President of the Strategy XXI Center for Global Studies, in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Overall, crisis-related developments are being observed in 70 of the 83 federal subjects. Naturally, the situation varies from region to region. In some places, motorists are limited to purchasing 20 or 30 liters of fuel at a time. Elsewhere, gasoline is sold only directly into vehicle tanks and not into jerry cans. Nevertheless, there is a sense of panic," Honchar said.
He noted that the current measures are still largely preventive restrictions, but more than a dozen regions are already experiencing actual fuel shortages.
"Approximately 13 Russian regions are reported to be facing physical gasoline shortages. These are precisely the regions with a high concentration of oil refineries that have been hit by Ukraine's Defense Forces. They include Krasnodar Krai, the Volga territory, as well as the Rostov, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions – areas that directly border Ukraine," Honchar explained.
