The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has outlined what it expects from South Africans during the 2026 filing season, as it continues to expand its use of digital systems and auto-assessments.
IOL previously reported that the Revenue Service (SARS) has confirmed the key dates for the 2026 tax filing season, alongside a set of system changes aimed at making tax submissions faster and more straightforward for individuals.
Speaking during the launch of the filing season, Makhubu said tax compliance is a shared responsibility between SARS and taxpayers.
"Our aspiration is simple yet transformative in this filing season to make tax compliance seamless, almost invisible in the lives of compliant taxpayers," Makhubo said.
