The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has confirmed the key dates for the 2026 tax filing season, alongside a set of system changes aimed at making tax submissions faster and more straightforward for individuals.

According to the revenue service, the filing periods are structured to support its auto-assessment system, which uses third-party data from employers, banks, medical schemes and other institutions to pre-fill taxpayer information and reduce manual filing requirements.
