Disgraced lawyer, Peet Viljoen, appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Pretoria on Thursday. His wife, Mel, listens as he speaks to his lawyer.
Controversial former lawyer Peet Viljoen, who was arrested on Tuesday shortly after arriving in South Africa from the United States of America, has been remanded in custody until his next court date.
Viljoen, 57, appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday and his case was adjourned to June 26 for a bail application.
He was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit at OR Tambo International Airport on June 16. It is understood that he arrived in Johannesburg after being deported from the US.
Viljoen is facing charges of fraud, theft, forgery, uttering, and contravening Section 4 of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.
