Northern Spain woke up on Thursday (June 18) to the aftermath of severe storms and flooding that devastated several villages in the northwestern region of Galicia. In the municipality of Viana do Bolo, floodwaters and mud swept through communities after intense thunderstorms battered the area. The mayor of Viana do Bolo described the aftermath as "desolating", saying entire villages were overwhelmed by the force of the water, regional Galician television reported.
