A plot to get Sibonelo Nomvalo, the MK Party’s eighth Secretary-General in two years has been uncovered.
A senior member of the Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature was said to be behind a plot to get the party's Secretary-General Sibonelo Nomvalo expelled.
Last week, the party’s caucus leader inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza penned a letter to the party’s leadership asking it to investigate Nomvalo for allegedly being funded by a rival political party. In the letter that was said to have been circulated to the top leadership, including the party’s royal and traditional leadership wing, allegations were made that Nomvalo was also guarded by hitmen and called for his immediate removal from office.
Upon getting information, Nomvalo hit back asking the top leadership to take action against Chiliza for spreading lies against him and demanded proof of what was alleged.
A MK Party source said that inkosi Chiliza’s accusations were based on an intelligence report, which was later found to be fake. The source said the fake report had been fabricated by a senior member of the party in the provincial legislature, who wanted to get rid of Nomvalo.
