One person was killed and more than 18 were injured after an omni bus rammed a borewell lorry near Madurantakam in the early hours of Thursday.The accident occurred at Arappedu on Tiruchi-Chennai National Highway in Chengalpattu district. According to the police, the omni bus was going from Karur to Chennai when rammed a borewell tractor-lorry in front of it. The impact caused the bus to crash into the median and go off the road.There were 46 passengers in the bus. Chellamuthu, 61, of Vengamedu village in Karur died on the spot. More than 18 passengers and bus driver Farooq were seriously injured and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.The accident led to traffic disruption on the national highway, before authorities cleared the vehicles and restored normal movement.
