June 18 (UPI) -- The star-studded supernatural drama, The Boroughs, will not be returning for a second season on Netflix.
The news was reported Wednesday by The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline and Variety.
Low viewership and high costs were blamed for the show's demise.
Produced by the Duffer Brothers and starring Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman, Clarke Peters and Denis O'Hare, the series took place in a New Mexico retirement community premiered May 21.
