Lock Ruan Nortjé will play in his final match for the Bulls on Friday evening when they face Leinster in the URC final in Dublin.
Former Bulls captain Ruan Nortjé will bring a decade-long career with the Pretoria side to an end on Friday evening when he runs out in the United Rugby Championship (URC) final against Leinster in Dublin.
While his ideal farewell would probably have been at Loftus Versfeld, reaching another final and having the opportunity to help the Bulls lift the trophy at Croke Park (8.30pm kick-off) for the first time will come as a close second for the Springbok lock.
Nortjé and his teammates fought their way into the Grand Final after a slow start to the season and now stand on the brink of shedding their bridesmaid tag in the competition. It would be a fitting send-off for the lock and several other departing players.
“For me, and I think all of us in this team, it would be really special to win the trophy for the people of Pretoria,” Nortjé said in an interview with the Vodacom URC ahead of the final.
