The campaign also expressed concerns over allegations that state resources are being deployed to secure political endorsements and weaken opposition structures ahead of the election.

The campaign organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr Oluwole Oluyede through its Director-General, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, has raised concerns over alleged increasing acts of intimidation and harassment allegedly targeted at opposition figures ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Ogundipe, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the campaign was deeply worried by reports suggesting that some civil servants and voters across the state were being subjected to pressure and intimidation in a bid to influence the outcome of the election.

According to him, credible reports reaching the campaign indicate that efforts are being made to create an atmosphere of fear among opposition supporters and citizens perceived to be sympathetic to the candidacy of Dr. Oluwole Oluyede.

"We are receiving disturbing reports from across the state which suggest a coordinated effort to intimidate opposition supporters and undermine the principles of free and fair elections. This is not healthy for our democracy and should concern every lover of democratic governance," Ogundipe stated.
