Emily Dalton Smith, a Meta executive who has been handling a key part of the company’s disruptive internal AI strategy, is leaving the company, Reuters reported, citing an memo to staff.
The move, announced on Wednesday, comes only two months after the company reportedly told employees Smith would lead product work to improve tooling, such as interfaces, for AI agents that Meta is developing to replace human staff.
Meta said earlier this year it is laying off about 10 percent of its staff, a move it said was intended to help it pay for its investments in AI data centres and other spending.
Internal AI shift
It is reassigning about the same proportion of employees to other units as part of its Agent Transformation Accelerator (ATA) plan announced in April.
