As Delhi continues to reel under intense summer heat, several areas in the Patel Nagar Assembly constituency are facing a severe water crisis, forcing residents to queue for hours and depend on water tankers for their daily needs.Neighbourhoods such as Baljit Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Gulshan Chowk, Holi Chowk and Punjabi Basti are among the worst affected. Residents say that despite the installation of water pipelines, many households are still not receiving a regular piped water supply.For thousands of families living in these localities, securing drinking water has become a daily challenge. Locals claim they often spend hours waiting for water tankers, which arrive only occasionally. The limited supply frequently leads to overcrowding and arguments as residents rush to collect water.According to ANI, residents expressed frustration over what they described as a long-standing problem. "This has been our reality for years. The administration sends a tanker only once a week. In this scorching heat, how can a large family survive on such a limited supply?" a resident told ANI.Workers forced to miss jobs due to water shortageThe water shortage is also affecting the livelihoods of many working-class families and migrant workers living in the area. Residents say they are often forced to take time off work to collect water whenever tankers arrive.Pushpa, who recently moved to Delhi with her husband, said the situation has put additional financial pressure on her family. Speaking to ANI, she said, "We came to a big city like Delhi to earn a living and feed our family. But the water situation is so bad that we often have to take unpaid leave from our jobs just to stand in line and fill our buckets. When the tanker doesn't come, or the water falls short, we are forced to spend our hard-earned money to buy water from private sellers."Residents seek permanent solutionMany residents said the weekly tanker supply is not enough, especially for large families. They have urged the authorities to ensure a regular water supply and find a long-term solution to the recurring crisis.With temperatures remaining high across the national capital, families in the affected parts of Patel Nagar continue to struggle for access to water, hoping civic authorities will address the issue before conditions worsen further.Inputs from ANI
