The judge ordered the issuance of the bench warrant following the defendant's failure to appear for a scheduled proceeding on June 16, 2026.

The National Secretary of the African Action Congress (AAC), Oshiokhue Philip, has stated that human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, is neither moved nor bothered by the revocation of his bail.

Justice Mohammed Umar, in a ruling on an oral application by the prosecution counsel, Akinkolu Kehinde, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), issued a bench warrant for Sowore's arrest.

The judge ordered the issuance of the bench warrant following the defendant's failure to appear for a scheduled proceeding on June 16, 2026.

Sowore is facing trial on charges bordering on cyberbullying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following a criminal case filed by the Department of State Services (DSS) over his public declaration that "Tinubu is a criminal."
