Power utility Eskom says it has, in the interest of ensuring a fair administrative process, extended the deadline for the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA) notice issued previously to the City of Johannesburg and City Power by 30 days.

The public is, therefore, urged to make representations, submissions, comments and/or requests by July 17.

Eskom will consider all submissions received and communicate the outcome of the process on July 24.

When Eskom issued the PAJA notice at the end of May, the CoJ and/or City Power owed Eskom R5.26-billion, which excluded the current account of R1.58-billion that was due on June 5.

Eskom says the CoJ and City Power have continued to make payments towards the electricity account and, thus far, R1.2-billion has been paid towards the electricity account since the PAJA was first issued.
