Criminal networks are using vapes to groom children as young as 13 – targeting them straight from the school gates. This programme has spent months reporting on the new frontier of exploitation around vaping and rogue vape shops, including shocking revelations of child sexual abuse.

Now a parent has told us that criminals got her child hooked on vapes, and violently forced them to commit crimes on their behalf. This kind of grooming is becoming disturbingly common – prompting calls for action.

A spokesperson for the National Police Chiefs’ Council told us:

Forces across England and Wales are working collectively to identify and disrupt those responsible, using intelligence, safeguarding referrals and targeted enforcement activity.

Tackling exploitation relies on strong partnership working ..to spot the warning signs early, support victims and build a full picture of offending networks.
