The Orange Pi 6 is a single-board computer that measures 90 x 90mm (3.54″ x 3.54″) and features a high-performance 12-core Arm-based processor that delivers up to 45 TOPS of on-device AI processing performance.Launching more than half a year after the Orange Pi 6 Plus, this nonplussed model has a slightly more limited feature set, but it’s also a little smaller and will probably be at least a little cheaper. Orange Pi hasn’t announced a price or release date for the Orange Pi 6 yet, but the Orange Pi 6 Plus currently sells for $367 and (way) up.While the Orange Pi 6 Plus is available with 16GB or 32GB of RAM and theoretically supports up to 64GB, the Orange Pi 6 comes with 8GB, 16GB, or 24GB. And while both models have two Ethernet ports, on the Plus model they support 5 Gigabit speeds, while the Orange Pi 6 only supports 2.5 Gigabit connections. Both models feature a CIX P1 (CD8180) processor with:4 x ARM Cortex-A720 CPU cores @ 2.8 GHz4 x ARM Cortex-A720 CPU cores @ 2.4 GHz4 x ARM Cortex-A520 CPU cores @ 1.8 GHzArm Immortalis-G720 MC10 graphics28.8 TOPS NPUOrange Pi says the little computers can hit 45 TOPS of AI performance when you combine the CPU, GPU, and NPU.Other features for the new Orange Pi 6 include LPDDR5 onboard memory, two M.2 2280 M-Key slots for PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage, and a microSD card reader. There’s also an M.2 E-Key socket for an optional wireless card.Ports and connectors include:2 x USB 3.0 Type-C (power, data, and video)2 x USB 3.0 Type-A 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A 1 x DisplayPort 1.41 x HDMI 2.01 x eDP1 x 3.5mm audio2 x 4-lane MIPI-CSI1 x 40-pin GPIOThe system has a PWM fan header, RTC header, and UART debug serial port and support for 65W or 100W USB Type-C power adapters.Orange Pi says it supports operating systems including Linux distros like Debian and Ubuntu, as well as Android, and OpenHarmony. The spec sheet also mentions Windows, although I’d expect limited support for that Microsoft’s desktop operating system. While Windows does technically support Arm-based processors, up until recently the company has been working primarily with Qualcomm. That’s expected to change when systems with NVIDIA RTX Spark processors hit the streets later this year, but I haven’t heard anything about Microsoft making CIX processors first-class citizens for Windows yet.via LinuxGizmos
